America House in collaboration with Young Scientist Academy (YSA) invites teen girls and young women enrolled in school, college, and university interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers to come and learn about a new and exciting initiative between American and Moldovan girls and young women.
YSA is a youth science NGO headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina with the mission to empower all youth to be community ambassadors using science to discover and deliver solutions that benefit their communities. The YSA programs involve real-world science experiments to technology and coding innovation, and this new program will inspire girls in Moldova to pursue STEM careers. The program will focus on providing STEM solutions to issues that are important for the future success of Moldova, such as climate change, space exploration, urban sustainability, and clean energy innovation.
This event will include an interactive discussion about the proposed program, and hands-on activities highlighting careers in technology, coding, and computer engineering. These include activities with:
- near-space weather balloon and Raspberry Pi technology
- Python coding
- app development
- digital image and thermal camera analyses.
Also, girls will be able to help formulate the program direction by sharing their ideas and topics (e.g., AI) they would like to be included in the program.
