UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Moldova is looking for qualified candidates interested in joining a local roster for potential temporary appointment (TA) to be based in the Republic of Moldova in the Field and Protection Units.
| Protection Unit (multiple positions) |
The incumbent monitors protection standards, operational procedures and practices in protection delivery in line with international standards and provides functional protection support to information management and programme staff. In addition, the incumbent coordinates quality, timely and effective protection responses to the needs of populations of concern (PoC) and identifies opportunities to mainstream protection methodologies and integrate protection safeguards in operational responses in all sectors. The incumbent also ensures that PoC are involved in making decisions that affect them, whether in accessing their rights or in identifying appropriate solutions to their problems. To achieve this, the incumbent will need to build and maintain effective interfaces with communities of concern, local authorities and protection and assistance partners. The requirements include prior relevant experience and certificate/licence in the fields of International Law, Political Science and International Law, or other related field. Knowledge of English language is essential.

The incumbent performs a variety of functions related to Field activities within the office. The incumbent keeps frequent internal contacts with staff members in the same duty station to exchange information, to establish understanding of respective needs; to ensure provision of services and resolution of problems and with the external contacts generally with officials of national and international institutions, leaders of the refugee community, local population and/or Implementing Partners (IPs) on subject matters which may be of importance to the Organization. The requirements include prior relevant experience and certificate/licence in the field of Business Administration, Law, Political Science or other related field. Knowledge of English language is essential.
