European Voluntary Service Project Description
“Youth for Music” gives one volunteer specific administrative, creative and pedagogical tasks, according to their skills and interests, related to our scheduled youth activities that have a European dimension, including: exchanges, orchestral sessions and concert tours. The project’s aim is to reinforce and develop the volunteer’s professional capacity (relational/organizational/linguistic skills). Their involvement in youth activities will develop their ability to adhere to a project, work in a team and to coach youth.
Voluntary Tasks:
- organisation of youth projects (promotion and mediatisation);
- communication and cooperation with foreign partners and participants;
- elaboration of the activity’s daily schedule;
- elaboration of cultural programs (trips/talks/visits);
- elicit the interest of the participants and public;
- support participants to solve any problems that arise;
- pedagogical coaching to problem solve and favour group integration and pedagogical assessment of the results.
During the first weeks, the volunteer will be progressively integrated into the UGDA team and into the different activities of the UGDA Music School. After this period of integration, the volunteer will be fully involved in the activities specifically related to the above mentioned projects.
The travel costs will be reimbursed up to a certain amount allocated by the European Commission while accommodation, food, transport and pocket money are provided by the host organization. The volunteer will be accommodated with other volunteers in a flat offering standard facilities and good public transport connections. Volunteers hosted in Luxembourg receive a fixed subsistence allowance of 256 €; this amount fixed by law also covers the cost for local transportation. Volunteers also receive 194 € pocket money per month.
The perfect candidate for this European Voluntary Service position is:
The volunteer should be open to learn and use new languages and experience intense intercultural exchange. They should have good social skills and not be afraid to communicate with young people. They should have a passion for music, musical theatre and other cultural activities and are expected to undertake the organisational, relational and pedagogical tasks for multicultural activities with young people coming from diverse cultural backgrounds and countries. Given the European dimension of the activities a good level of English and French or German is necessary, other languages are a plus.
